Jakob Uszkoreit
Jakob Uszkoreit is a prominent figure in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. He earned a Master's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Technische Universität Berlin from 2002 to 2007.13
Uszkoreit joined Google in 2008 as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, where he conducted research on neural network architectures and training paradigms.1 He led research teams focused on large-scale deep learning for natural language understanding and worked on the core natural language query understanding system behind the Google Assistant.13
During his time at Google, Uszkoreit made significant contributions to the development of transformers, a revolutionary AI technology.2 He was part of a team of eight Google employees who invented this modern AI approach, which has had a profound impact on natural language processing and other AI applications.2
In 2021, Uszkoreit co-founded Inceptive, a company focused on using deep learning and high-throughput experiments to learn life's languages, where he currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer.14 Inceptive aims to enable the design of next-generation RNA molecules through a combination of scalable experiments and deep learning.3
Uszkoreit's background is notable, as he is the son of Hans Uszkoreit, a well-known computational linguist.2 This family connection likely influenced his career path in the field of AI and language processing.
