Background
Jakob grew up in central Maine in an off-grid farmhouse with his family, which included his parents and five siblings. This upbringing instilled in him a strong appreciation for simplicity and hard work. At 18, he pursued higher education at the University of Maine, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college, he initially worked as a mechanical engineer in New York City before transitioning to brewing.12

Founded with a commitment to local agriculture, From The Ground Brewery utilizes ingredients grown within a five-mile radius of its location, including barley from Migliorelli Farm and hops from various New York farms. The brewery operates on a small scale, brewing in batches of 155 gallons, which allows for meticulous attention to quality.13
