    AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow

    Jake Herb is a highly skilled professional with a background in Chemistry and Materials Science. He currently serves as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow in the Department of Energy's Water Power Technologies Office.

    Prior to his current role, Jake held the position of Principal Scientist at Physical Sciences, Inc. (PSI), where he focused on developing advanced technology for commercial and government applications.

    Jake's expertise lies in materials development, characterization, battery testing/evaluation, and scale-up. He has made significant contributions to product development in the areas of advanced lithium-ion anode and cathode materials, as well as electrolyte formulation.

    He completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry and Materials Science at Princeton University under the guidance of Dr. Craig Arnold. His doctoral research concentrated on the advancement of magnesium-ion batteries.

    Jake Herb's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Muhlenberg College.

    In addition to his current role as a Science & Technology Policy Fellow, Jake has held various positions such as University Administrative Fellow at Princeton University, NSF Graduate Research Fellow at Princeton University, Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at NIST, and Research Assistant at Muhlenberg College.
