Jai Allison

Jai Allison is a transdisciplinary PhD candidate in the Geography department at the University of Newcastle, Australia.1 He has nearly twenty years of experience working in community development and organizational change.1 His research focuses on resilience praxis, crossing disciplines from disaster risk reduction to complexity theory and social movement studies.1
Research Focus: Jai's academic work critically examines resilience, drawing on Deleuzian geo-philosophy to analyze how communities respond to disruptions. His research explores how individuals develop a sense of responsibility and collective ability to respond to various challenges, such as environmental threats and community disruptions.1
Professional Background: He brings a practice-based approach to research, studying how communities organize and act resiliently. His work includes case studies of social movements in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, such as:
