Jaehwan Kim
Massachusetts Institute of Technology Graduate Student Researcher
Jaehwan Kim is a Senior Engineer at Quantum-Si, who previously worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).1 He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, where he studied under the supervision of Prof. Rajeev Ram and Prof. Hae-Seung Lee.1 His research focused on monolithic integration of nanofluidics, photodetectors, and readout circuits using a CMOS foundry process.1
Prior to his doctoral studies, Jaehwan Kim obtained his M.S. and B.S. degrees from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in 2012 and 2010, respectively.1 He also worked at Samsung Electronics' Telecommunication Division as a mobile phone hardware developer from 2012 to 2016.12
During his time at MIT, Jaehwan Kim's research interests included CMOS photonics and nanofluidics for biomedical applications, as well as low-cost/rapid fabrication strategies for sensors and diagnostic devices for preventive healthcare.2 He was a recipient of the Kwanjeong scholarship.12
Jaehwan Kim's professional experience also includes winning the Patient Safety & Quality track at Medhacks 2017 and the 1st Place in the Home-based Remote Patient Monitoring Track at MIT Hacking Medicine's Grand Hack in 2022.1
