Jacob Fiksel

Jacob Fiksel is a highly skilled Postdoc at the University of Pennsylvania DBEI, specializing in developing methodologies for analyzing Electronic Health Record (EHR) data and collaborating on translational biomedical research.

With a solid background in Biostatistics, Jacob earned his PhD from Johns Hopkins University, focusing on Bayesian Quantification Learning and its application to mortality surveillance of child and neonatal deaths in Mozambique.

Prior to his current role, Jacob served as a Senior Biostatistician at Janssen Pharmaceuticals, gaining valuable experience in the industry.

His academic journey includes studying Mathematics at Budapest Semester in Mathematics, completing his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics with thesis honors at Pomona College, and earning his PhD in Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Jacob's expertise extends to working with whole and targeted sequencing data in cancer genomics, Bayesian model development using Stan and JAGS, and a keen interest in enhancing statistical education through the creation of educational materials.
