Ivvet Modinou is a seasoned professional with almost two decades of experience in public engagement with science. Currently serving as the Director of Outreach, Education & Engagement at the Simons Foundation, she leads the public engagement initiatives, with a focus on the Science Sandbox program designed to inspire individuals not traditionally seen as science enthusiasts.
Prior to her role at the Simons Foundation, Ivvet held the position of Head of Engagement at the British Science Association, where she oversaw various public programs, including the renowned British Science Festival and the development of a national community engagement portfolio. She was instrumental in leading the UK Science Festivals Network, nurturing a community of over 40 independent science festivals nationwide.
With a rich background spanning a decade at the Natural History Museum, Ivvet spearheaded the formulation and execution of the Museum's science communication strategy, showcasing her expertise in engaging audiences with scientific concepts.
Her academic journey includes achieving a Master of Science in Communication from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science, Geology from Royal Holloway, University Of London. Additionally, she has been actively involved in providing science communication training worldwide and has contributed to prominent media outlets like the BBC World Service and The Times.
