Ivan Phelan is a seasoned researcher who has made a name for himself in virtual reality (VR) for healthcare, particularly in rehabilitative exercises, pain management, and training. With an MSc in Game Software Development from Sheffield Hallam and a BSc in Software Engineering from Institute of Technology, Carlow, Phelan is well-equipped with the technical knowledge to develop VR environments in Unreal and Unity.
Currently, Phelan serves as a Senior Research Fellow at Sheffield Hallam University's C3RI, where he conducts studies on the impact of VR technology in healthcare. He previously worked as a Software Developer at Ninth Wave Software Limited and as a Contract Tools Programmer/Temp Assistant Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.
Phelan also has a wealth of experience working as a Software Developer at Warwick IC Systems, Cucumber Software, and Waterford City Council. He has skills in programming, technical support and is well-versed in using a variety of software development tools.
