Irene Perurena
Vicepresidenta Ejecutiva en Fundación Ciudad del Saber
Irene Perurena is a psychologist with a degree from the Universidad Santa María la Antigua in Panama. She holds a Master's degree in Peace Studies and Governance from the University of Notre Dame du Lac in the United States, where she was a Fulbright Scholar under the USAID program. With a background as the Executive Director of the Commission for Justice and Peace of the Panamanian Episcopal Conference (1990 - 1994) and as an Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic (1994 - 1999), Irene has dedicated her career to promoting human rights, transparency in public administration, and citizen participation. She was honored in 1994 with the Order of Manuel Amador Guerrero as a Commander. Irene has extensive experience in international cooperation and was appointed ad honorem by the Presidency of the Republic as a Member of the National Council of Foreign Relations in 2015. She is a member of the Panamanian Business Executives Association (APEDE), part of the inaugural group of women in the Executive Forum - Panama Chapter, and serves as a Mentor for the Empresarias del Centro de Innovación de CDS Project. Additionally, Irene volunteers for the Panamanian Red Cross and is a member of its Central Committee. Since 2000, she has been part of the executive team at the Ciudad del Saber Foundation.
