Ilya Fushman

Ilya Fushman is a General Partner and Managing Member at Kleiner Perkins, a prominent venture capital firm. He joined the firm in March 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in both investing and operational roles within technology companies. Prior to his tenure at Kleiner Perkins, Fushman was a General Partner at Index Ventures, where he was involved in investments in significant companies such as Slack, Intercom, and Optimizely.12

Fushman's career began at Dropbox, where he was one of the first 75 employees and played a crucial role in the company's growth from a small startup to a major player in the tech industry. He led various teams, including corporate development and product leadership, helping to launch Dropbox for Business and the developer platform.123 Before Dropbox, he worked at Khosla Ventures and Solar Junction, where he contributed to developing advanced solar technology.2

He holds a PhD in Applied Physics and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, as well as a BS in Physics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) .12 Fushman is known for focusing on investments in enterprise software, financial services, and consumer technology, emphasizing product-centric companies that are innovating in their go-to-market strategies.123

Fushman's background as an immigrant, having moved from Russia to Israel, then Germany, and eventually to the United States, has shaped his perspective on risk-taking and entrepreneurship, which he believes are essential traits for successful founders.23
