Ian McGowan

Ian McGowan is a highly skilled and innovative professional in the field of New York City Real Estate. Ian teamed up with Carolyn Joy, a 35-year veteran of the Manhattan Real Estate market in 2018 to form the Joy-McGowan team. The team has created a hands-on, creative process that has proven to be successful in listing properties, and has provided a dedicated and tireless methodology to find the perfect property for their buyers.

Ian's journey began in Greenfield, Massachusetts. After earning his BA in Economics & Dance from Connecticut College, Ian came to New York City 15 years ago as a dancer. He was immediately taken by the city's energy and architecture, and his interest in real estate grew as he got to know New York City better. Ian is an associate broker at Brown Harris Stevens, and his extensive experience in real estate began as a licensed real estate salesperson at Citi Habitats before transitioning to Brown Harris Stevens. Before joining the real estate industry, he worked as a freelance dancer at various dance companies and as a sales associate and manager at New York Golf Center.

In his spare time, Ian loves to listen to music, play golf, and photograph the cityscape. He is the father of an adorable 5-year-old daughter named Saya, who also enjoys dancing.
