    Ian Garrett is a multifaceted professional excelling in design, production, education, and research within the realm of sustainability in arts and culture.

    As a co-founder and director of the Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts (CSPA), Ian focuses on sustainability in the arts and culture sector, while also serving as an Assistant Professor of Ecological Design for Performance at York University in Toronto.

    Ian Garrett is an avid writer, speaker, and researcher on sustainability in the arts, with notable roles such as sustainability programme coordinator for World Stage Design in Cardiff, Wales.

    He brings a wealth of experience in theater design sustainability, international touring, and arts infrastructure, drawing from his educational background with an MFA in Lighting Design and Producing from California Institute of the Arts, a BA in Architectural Studies and Art History from Rice University, and a High School Diploma from North Hollywood HGM.

    Throughout his career, Ian Garrett has held various prominent positions and affiliations, including roles at York University, The Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts, Toasterlab, Fresh Arts Coalition, and many others.
