Ian Crane
Ian Crane is a data scientist at Metis, specializing in a wide range of machine learning and data mangling problems. His diverse experience includes predicting cinema gross totals overseas, using natural language processing for blog classification by political leaning, and visualizing changes in music styles of major rock bands. Prior to his current role, Ian was a graduate student in physics, working on data challenges for new major telescopes. His focus at the University of California, Davis was understanding detector biases' effects on data from the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope and developing methods to estimate and remove unwanted supernovae from the Dark Energy Survey dataset.
