Ian Cheok

Ian Cheok is a highly accomplished Occupational Therapist with a unique background in both healthcare and technology. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology from The University of Western Australia, Ian pursued and completed his Masters of Occupational Therapy at Curtin University. He received prestigious awards during his occupational therapy training, including the Head of the School Award and Outstanding Mentor Award.

Ian has over 15 years of experience in user experience design and software engineering before transitioning to the field of occupational therapy. This transition has equipped him with a distinctive skill set that merges clinical expertise with technological know-how, allowing him to offer innovative and effective solutions in his practice.

Ian specializes in chronic pain care, mental health recovery, and neurorehabilitation. He is particularly passionate about incorporating immersive and assistive technologies into healthcare to enhance the quality of care provided. Ian has collaborated with various community-based organizations and private practices to deliver occupational therapy services and spearhead healthcare technology initiatives.

As a Clinical Supervisor to 4th-year Honours OT students from Curtin University and Edith Cowan University, Ian plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of occupational therapy professionals. He strongly advocates for personalized care that focuses on enabling individuals to engage in activities that bring them joy, thus enhancing their overall well-being.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Ian enjoys spending time outdoors, immersing himself in music, practicing yoga, and sharing laughter with friends. Ian's commitment to empowering individuals to embrace their uniqueness and strengths shines through in his dedication to helping others achieve their best selves.
