Ian Bushner

Ian Bushner is currently a partner at Freshfields, not Latham & Watkins. He joined Freshfields as a partner in New York in March 2024, where he serves as Head of U.S. Private Capital.13 Bushner is a highly experienced private equity M&A attorney who specializes in advising private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies on complex business transactions.3

Prior to joining Freshfields, Bushner was a partner at Latham & Watkins, having joined the firm in March 2020 along with Neal Reenan.2 Before that, he was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, where he helped launch the firm's Boston office in 2017.2

Bushner has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating, and executing complex domestic and cross-border deals across various industries.3 He is known for his ability to efficiently execute deals and provide practical, actionable risk assessments for clients.3

Bushner received his J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. with honors from Washington University in St. Louis.3 He is admitted to the bar in Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York.3
