    Ian Buchanan is an esteemed academic with a strong background in English and Comparative Literature & Cultural Studies, holding a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD from Murdoch University.

    Currently serving as a Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Wollongong, Ian has held various leadership positions in academia. He was previously the Discipline Leader for Cultural Studies, Indigenous Studies, Science & Tech, Environmental Humanities at the University of Wollongong.

    Ian Buchanan also has experience as the Director of the Institute for Social Transformation Research at the University of Wollongong. Before his current role, he was a Professor of Critical & Cultural Theory and Deputy Director of the Centre for Critical and Cultural Theory at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd.

    His academic journey includes the role of Foundation Professor in Communication and Cultural Studies & Associate Dean Research at Charles Darwin University. Prior to this, Ian was a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies at Monash University.

    With a rich teaching background, Ian Buchanan has served as a Senior Lecturer at the School of English, Journalism, and European Languages at the University of Tasmania. He has also worked as a Lecturer at the Department of English at The University of Western Australia and the School of English and Comparative Literature at Murdoch University.
