Ian Bridges

Ian Bridges is an experienced Signalling Engineer with 42 years of experience in the field. He serves as the Junior Vice President of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) and is slated to be the President in 2021. Along with being a Chartered Engineer, he is also a Fellow of the IRSE and Institution of Engineering & Technology. Ian works at Balfour Beatty as their Professional Head of Signalling and Engineering Director, where he is working alongside his team to develop a new signalling business with the goal of becoming a strong, skilled and enthusiastic delivery unit. Ian has had a successful career so far, working at several companies including Parsons Brinckerhoff, Signalling Solutions Limited, and Atkins, where he served as the Technical Director Future Signalling Systems and Professional Head of Signalling.
