Hunter Whitney

Hunter Whitney is a highly experienced design strategist, instructor, and author with a specialized focus on UX design, data visualization, and analytics. With a background that includes advising corporations, start-ups, government agencies, and NGOs, he brings a wealth of knowledge and strategic design approach to his work. Whitney holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Postgraduate Non-Degree Studies, Psychology and Psychoneuroimmunology, GPA: 3.9 from the University of California, Los Angeles.

As an author, he is best known for his book, "Data Insights: New Ways to Visualize and Make Sense of Data,” as well as his contribution to the book, “Designing for Emerging Technologies: UX for Genomics, Robotics, and the Internet of Things.” Whitney’s writing experience includes copywriting, as well as numerous articles covering a range of subjects for various online and print publications.

He also brings extensive teaching experience to his work as an instructor and curriculum advisor for data visualization and UX design programs with UC Davis, and a classroom instructor for the courses - "Design Thinking and UX Strategy" and "Human-Centered Design for Data Visualization" for UC Berkeley Extension. He is also a guest lecturer for Northeastern University’s Level Analytics Bootcamps.

Whitney’s consulting experience includes roles as a UX Consultant at Roche, Director of Sales Central UX at Oracle, Senior Consultant at Kaiser Permanente, Product-UX Consultant at a Healthcare Company, and UX Consultant at Cisco Systems, among others. Throughout his career, he has honed his expertise in UX design, data visualization, and analytics, working with a wide range of organizations to help them achieve their goals through thoughtful and strategic design approaches.
