Hugo Aponte

Hugo Aponte is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in software engineering, leadership, and education.

He started his career as a researcher and developer at Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), where he worked on real-time web applications leveraging artificial intelligence concepts, leading to publications and patents.

With a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and specialization courses in Artificial Intelligence, Hugo later transitioned into academia, teaching Web and Internet Applications at Universidad Central de Venezuela for 5 years.

Prior to his academic role, he played a pivotal part in the development and growth of Batanga, now VIX, serving as the leader of development efforts and IT department for nearly a decade.

Hugo's journey continued as he co-founded ziipa.com and moved on to Microsoft as a Senior Software Engineer in 2013, contributing significantly to various high-profile projects within the AI+R division.

His commitment and expertise led him to become the manager of an elite team at Microsoft known as Spartans, focusing on projects like Microsoft Audience Network, Semantic Machines, and Cortana.
