Hugh Lavery

Hugh Lavery is currently a part of the Platform Infrastructure team at Qualtrics in EMEA, focusing on Identity and Access management, PKI, Secrets management, Service mesh, and application gateways.

Previously, Hugh worked in the Engineering Services department for 2 years at Qualtrics, where he built custom solutions and integrations for diverse customers, ranging from small ETL automations to large, multi-year, and multi-developer projects. He also played a key role in maintaining existing projects and enhancing operational processes.

Hugh holds a 1st class Honors Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Trinity College Dublin. His Master's dissertation concentrated on a performance evaluation of machine learning algorithms.

With a primary focus on backend development using Golang and Python, Hugh is skilled in writing RESTful APIs, cloud computing, infrastructure development (AWS, Terraform), CI/CD (Docker, Jenkins / Gitlab CI), operations, monitoring, and Identity and Access management (LDAP, SSH, hardware token MFA).

His professional interests include backend development, infrastructure, cloud computing, ML/AI, AWS, and security.
