Holly Hagan

Professor at New York University

Holly Hagan is a renowned epidemiologist, dedicated to preventing blood-borne viral infections in people who inject drugs (PWID). With over three decades of experience in the field, Hagan has made numerous contributions to the harm reduction practices in the U.S. and abroad. Hagan was mentored by Professor Noel Weiss of the University of Washington, where she also completed her PhD in Epidemiology. Hagan's groundbreaking research on shared use of drug preparation equipment has influenced harm reduction practices and helped support local jurisdictions to begin needle exchange programs across the US. Her current work on the HCV Synthesis Project focuses on evidence synthesis for the eradication of HCV in PWID. Hagan holds a Bachelor's degree in Russian Studies from The Evergreen State College, a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a degree in Nursing from Seattle Central Community College. Hagan is a Professor at New York University and has worked for organizations such as Epidemiology for the Masses, Seattle King County Department of Public Health, National Development and Research Institutes, and Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
