Hermann Pfeiffer
Senior (sub)tropical Agriculture consultant (freelance)
Hermann Pfeiffer holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Science with a specialization in soil sciences from the University of Louvain and a post-graduate degree in tropical and subtropical agronomy from the Agricultural Faculty of Gembloux in Belgium.
With a strong foundation in agricultural sciences, Hermann has a rich professional background that includes serving as a research & extension agronomist and team leader of the Cameroon National Root Crops Improvement Programme at IITA from 1978 to 1987.
Since 1988, he has been working as a freelance consultant, primarily in Africa, collaborating with organizations such as FAO, IFAD, EU, and Belgian and German development cooperation.
His expertise spans smallholder farming systems, research-extension linkages, participative development, sustainable livelihood, food security, crop improvement, and horticulture development.
Hermann is currently actively involved in designing and supervising agricultural sector investment projects/programmes for African Governments and international financing institutions like IFAD and the World Bank.
