Associate Deputy Airport Director, Operations - Director, Ground Transportation Planning

Responsible for the safe, secure and efficient operation of San Francisco International Airport with direct oversight for Airfield Operations, Airport Communications, Emergency Planning, Aviation Security, Security Operations Center (SOC), Radio Services, Security Regulatory and Compliance, Security Access Office (SAO) and Safety Management Systems (SMS).Reorganized (8) separate operating sections into a single department of more than 150 team members and developed a synergistic team working together to provide for all of the functional safety and security needs of San Francisco International Airport, the 7th busiest and one of the more complex airports in the country.Provided guidance in the development and management of both airport and department Strategic Plans/Goals and ensured execution of desired objectives.Served as the team leader for strategic initiatives committees for Improving Passenger Experience at Security Checkpoints and Continuity of Operations Planning.  Also supported the Runway Safety Area (RSA) committee.Served on the new SFO Air Traffic Control Tower site selection team assisting in identifying and evaluating the various potential ideal locations for a new facility.Managed Operating and Capital Budgets of $22M and $60M respectively.Leadership experience includes large project planning, development and execution, labor-management relations, and professional development and mentorship.

Associate Deputy Airport Director, Operations- Safety and Security

Managed the Airport Services Department within Airport Operations including Landside Operations, Airport Duty Management, Customer Service and Airport Wayfinding.Effectively supervised a team of 35 Airport Commission and more than 200 contract personnel.Coordinated the design and development of new Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI) system named the SFO Ground Transportation Management System (GTMS) designed to improve the tracking and enforcement of commercial vehicles on airport property; and to improve the collection of revenue and billing.  This $20M capital project is a one of a kind and industry leading solution. Developed leading edge customer service programs designed to improve the customer experience at SFO and to provide access and responsiveness to the needs of the traveling public;  Managed a volunteer team of approximate 200.Project Lead for the SFO Long Term Parking Redevelopment Project which increased capacity and increased revenues by more than 40% while greatly improving the product and customer experience.Developed an Airport Employee Parking Discount Program which allowed employees to park in public parking facilities at a discounted daily rate which generated more than $250,000/yr in additional revenues.  Developed and managed Operating and Capital Budgets of $22M and $20M respectively.

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operational activities of this large hub airport serving 40 million passengers a year.  Served as the primary airport management representative to the public, stakeholders, local community and media.  Ensured the safe, secure and efficient operation of the entire airport including airside, landside, terminal and contract services (Parking and Shuttle Bus Operations, Curbside Management, Information Booth Services, AirTrain, etc).  Coordinated irregular operational, security incidents, and emergency response activities.  Served as designated media spokesperson providing both TV, Radio and Print media interviews.  Responded to customer needs to ensure the greatest experience while at SFO.  Monitored compliance with operating and lease agreements and acted as an advocate for passengers and concession/airline stakeholders.  Supported the airports noise program and monitored compliance with the established curfew.  Responded to local community needs/complaints as needed.Coordinated day-to-day construction activities of the Airports $3.4B Master Plan Project which included a new international terminal, parking garages, rental car center, roadways and air train system.  Management construction activity in real time to ensure planned work minimally impacted passenger activity and mitigated any problems.  As a result work was finished on this project on time and under budget.Recognized for improving airport parking revenues by suggesting a procedure for handling over-flow vehicles when long term parking filled.  This improved annual parking revenues by 20% and continues today.
