Harry Olson is a seasoned design professional with over 15 years of experience. He currently serves as a senior user experience researcher at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, specializing in leading service transformation teams within the public sector. Harry holds a Scrum Product Owner Certified (SPOC) credential and a master's degree in digital experience design from Hyper Island.
Throughout his career, Harry has excelled in communicating intricate systems and frameworks to the general public, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative methods to turn insights into actionable strategies. He is adept at mentoring and coaching teams and stakeholders. He is deeply committed to leveraging design for positive social and environmental impacts, having worked on diverse projects ranging from clean energy to urban planning.
Some notable accomplishments of Harry include enhancing visitor experiences and content at BC Parks, facilitating easier access to climate change initiatives through CleanBC, contributing to a national policy for community well-being in the UAE, and revitalizing local government streets using rapid placemaking techniques.
Harry's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Digital Experience Design from Hyper Island, as well as studies in moral leadership skills at Acumen Academy. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication Design from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and has studied Visual Communication and Graphic Design at Vancouver Island University.
Prior to his current role, Harry has held various positions in notable organizations like Happy City, Vancouver Design Week, Michael Green Architecture, Megaphone Magazine, PUBLIC, We The Collective, Breakhouse, Code + Mortar, and as the Owner and Principal of HAO Creative.
