Harold White
Director, Advanced Research & Development at Limitless Space Institute
Dr. Harold "Sonny" White is the Director of Advanced Research & Development at the Limitless Space Institute (LSI) in Houston, Texas.13 He has over 25 years of experience in the aerospace industry, having worked with Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and NASA before joining LSI.12
Dr. White holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Rice University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University, and a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Alabama.3
At LSI, Dr. White leads all R&D work, establishes research priorities, obtains grants and resources, and markets the institute to major benefactors.13 He joined LSI at the end of 2019 after leaving NASA, where he previously served as the Advanced Propulsion Theme Lead for the NASA Engineering Directorate.24
Dr. White is known for his work on advanced propulsion concepts, including research on the Alcubierre Warp Drive and other technologies aimed at enabling rapid interstellar transit.45 He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the NASA Medal for Excellence in Achievement and the Silver Snoopy Award.23
