Haohan Wang
Haohan Wang is a dynamic and driven computer scientist with a focus on machine learning, computational biology, and entrepreneurship. With a Master's degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications, he is currently a PhD candidate and research assistant in Language Technologies Institute, School of Computer Science at CMU.
Haohan's research is focused on developing statistical models and algorithms for genetic association mapping, specifically eQTL or GWAS analysis, through computation methods. He is also interested in applying machine learning approaches such as deep learning to solve problems in computational biology and language technology.
Haohan has a variety of skills in computer science including basic programming, software engineering, data analysis, and big data technology. He is also an entrepreneurial-minded individual who collaborated with other students to found SynMetric, a company that applies neuroscience technology to solve real-world problems. Haohan has also set up an online community to help university applicants craft and refine their application documents.
Aside from his research and entrepreneurial work, Haohan was the Vice President at CMU Summit on US-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Director of IT panel, and has worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Hipu. inc China as well as a Research Assistant at Tsinghua University.
