Hany Farid

Hany Farid is a distinguished Professor of Computer Science with a focus on image analysis, digital forensics, and the implications of technology on society, specifically in addressing online harms.
He pursued his education with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Rochester, followed by a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Albany.
Throughout his career, Hany Farid has been associated with esteemed organizations; currently serving as a Professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He has held key positions such as Director on the Board of Directors at Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, advisor roles at TikTok, Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley School of Law, Truepic, and Counter Extremism Project. Farid also co-founded Fourandsix Technologies, Inc., where he served as the Chief Technology Officer.
