Hans-Georg Weinig

Hans-Georg Weinig is the Director of Education, Career, and Science at the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh), a position he has held since 2016. He is responsible for international affairs, chemistry education, advanced training, organizing scientific conferences, advising policymakers, promoting career paths in science, and facilitating exchanges among young scientists.14
Before joining GDCh in 2009 as a scientific coordinator, Weinig worked as a scientific officer at the Leibniz Association in Bonn from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, he was a project manager in technology transfer and environmental governance, focusing on Russia, from 2002 to 2006.1
Weinig holds a PhD in organic and bio-organic chemistry from Humboldt University of Berlin. He also completed a postdoctoral stay at the University of Rome "La Sapienza," where he focused on industrial organic chemistry.1
In addition to his role at GDCh, Weinig has been involved with the OPCW Advisory Board on Education and has served as its Chairperson.2 He is active on LinkedIn, where he shares updates related to his work and initiatives in the field of chemistry.35
