    Haley Burns is an entrepreneur and leader dedicated to fostering positive change for a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future.

    At just 19 years old, she established Fund 17 in New Orleans with the mission of empowering entrepreneurs to transform their endeavors into sustainable livelihoods.

    During her time at Fund 17, Haley excelled in designing and managing programs, enhancing operational systems, spearheading impact assessments, fundraising, mentoring entrepreneurs, and overseeing staff growth.

    Passionate about community-oriented initiatives, she led innovative research projects aimed at tailoring Fund 17's programs to suit the specific needs of the local business community through surveys and GIS mapping.

    Haley's commitment to marrying research with effective project management highlights her professional ethos.

    After seven years of entrepreneurial endeavors, Haley embarked on a Fulbright journey to France to pursue a Master's degree in International Urban Planning at Université Grenoble Alpes.

    Her academic pursuits in Grenoble encompassed a broad array of urban planning themes including smart cities, digital infrastructure, and sustainable urban development.

    She engaged in impactful research at CRAterre architecture lab, focusing on housing projects in urban West Africa and exploring hybrid models aimed at enhancing water and sanitation in informal settlements.

    Currently, Haley is applying her expertise as a Community & Economic Development Specialist at the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, spearheading economic development programs in her hometown of HSV, Alabama.

    Her experience spans multiple organizations and roles, showcasing her proficiency in areas such as community development, international research, small business advising, and organizational leadership.
