Haijun Gong
Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University
Dr. Haijun Gong is a renowned expert in Additive Manufacturing focusing on processes like Selective Laser Melting and Electron Beam Melting on metallic powders.
His research involves studying the impacts of defects on AM parts, process enhancements, parameter optimization for metallic powder, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on AM parts, and mechanical testing and material characterization of AM parts.
Currently, he serves as a faculty member in the Manufacturing Engineering Department at Georgia Southern University.
Dr. Gong's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Industrial Engineering from the University of Louisville and studies in Mechanical Engineering at Utah State University.
Throughout his career, he has held key roles such as Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University, Visiting Assistant Professor at the same institution, Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Louisville, and PhD Student & Research Assistant at both the University of Louisville and Utah State University.
His previous research experiences also cover Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM).
