Passionate about translational medicine, with a focus on Haematology and Immunology
Grigore-Aristide Gafencu is a dedicated BMBS professional with a strong passion for translational medicine, particularly focusing on Oncology and Haematology. His academic journey includes pursuing a DPhil in Medical Sciences with a specialization in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science/Research and Allied Professions at the prestigious University of Oxford. He earlier obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Grigore-Aristide Gafencu excelled academically, having completed his high school education in a French-Romanian bilingual class, specializing in Mathematics and Computer Science at Colegiul Național ,,Petru Rareș
, in Suceava, Romania.
Within various organizations, Grigore-Aristide Gafencu has gained valuable experience and honed his skills. He currently serves as a DPhil (PhD) candidate in Medical Sciences at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. Previously, he fulfilled an Erasmus + clinical placement at the Unité de Transplantation et de Thérapie Cellulaire (U2t) - Externe at Institut Paoli-Calmettes and a Visiting Medical Student role at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
His academic and professional journey also includes roles such as Scientific Director for an internal student grant at Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, an Amgen Scholar for an undergraduate summer research studentship at Amgen, a Junior Research Assistant (Volunteer) at the Research Centre for Functional Genomics and Translational Medicine, and a Financial Commission member at the European Medical Students Association.
