Greg Tao

Greg Tao is a Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at matter.io, a company he joined in February 2013.12 He has a strong background in mechanical engineering and entrepreneurship. Tao obtained his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) between 2006 and 2010.1

Prior to his role at matter.io, Greg Tao co-founded OttoClave, a company that developed a low-cost sterilization system for resource-limited health clinics.3 This project was a spin-off of his master's research at MIT, where he worked on creating a medical instrument sterilizer from a low-cost pressure cooker.3

Throughout his career, Greg Tao has demonstrated expertise in hardware development and entrepreneurship. He has served as a Hardware Mentor In Residence at Techstars since January 2017.3 After his time at matter.io, he became the CTO of Impact Health in December 2016.3

Greg Tao's educational background includes both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.3 His work at MIT involved biological validation, mechanical design, manufacturability, board design, and firmware development.3
