Chief Engineer/Tech at Electrical Audio Recording
Greg Norman is a recording engineer, producer, and studio technician based in Chicago, Illinois. He has been working at Electrical Audio, Steve Albini's recording studio, since 1996.15 Norman initially helped with the design and construction of the two-studio complex and later became the staff engineer and "chief technical officer" at Electrical Audio.15
As a recording engineer, Norman has worked on over a hundred records, both at Electrical Audio and as a freelance producer/engineer.2 He has recorded and mixed for notable artists such as The Killers, Andrew Bird, Kim Deal of Pixies fame, Russian Circles, and Godspeed You Black Emperor.15
Norman has unique expertise in analog tape machine and console design and maintenance.2 He also designs and manufactures custom recording studio equipment, including the Normaphone Preamp.14 Additionally, he has designed, consulted, and installed several studios in Chicago, throughout the United States, and Canada.2
Outside of his work at Electrical Audio, Norman has his own recording setup and takes on freelance projects.5 He has a degree in musical engineering and has also played in bands, including The Bitter Tears.35
