Spearheaded all capital raising for a fund established to provide loans   to middle market companies. Worked in close collaboration with legal counsel to develop all necessary fund formation documents. Personally identified and sourced deals while serving as the voice and the face of the organization in communications with Limited Partners.

Secured $13MM of capital commitments for start-up mezzanine debt fund from 29 private foundations and accredited investors.

Saved more than $400K in related legal fees. Selected and efficiently managed legal counsel.

A start-up private equity firm with $109MM of committed capital focused on investments in growth companies primarily in the Southeast United States.

Took the lead in all fund raising as well as the identification and sourcing of companies with high growth potential. Drove new business development key to driving the growth of portfolio companies. Personally negotiated side letters with investors while promoting continuing improvement in investor relations. Directed the recruitment and selection of advisory board members. 

Secured $109M of capital commitments for start-up leveraged buyout fund from 78 institutional investors, private foundations and accredited investors. 

Raised $10MM of mezzanine debt financing from accredited investors for Empower Software Solutions proposed acquisition of a competitor in the face of a challenging fund raising period due to summer vacations. 

Played a contributing role in the integration of four stand-alone companies which became Empower Software Solutions while serving on the company’s Board of Directors.   

Led business development efforts for portfolio companies Empower Software Solutions and NRI Construction.

ATLANTA EQUITY MANAGEMENT LLC

Principal

The corporate finance business unit of Navigant Consulting, Inc. NCA focused on meeting the middle market investment banking, restructuring, valuation, and transaction advisory needs of its clients.  

Established and held authority for the profitable operation of the firm’s broker-dealer, CBW Securities, LLC. Directed all fund raising to drive continuing improvement in the firm’s venture capital and leveraged buyout investments and other business development activities.

Enabled Casas, Benjamin & White to earn significant incremental revenue from its investment banking efforts. Established CBW Securities as a registered broker dealer.

Positioned the firm to execute a venture capital investment in Lightyear Technology and a co-investment in the leveraged buyout of Loehmann’s. Spearheaded a successful effort to secure $2.75M of aggregate capital commitments from accredited investors.

Originated mandate and served as buy side advisor for Novare Group Holdings, a leading Atlanta-based real estate investment firm, for Novare’s January 2007 investment of $60M in 245 Perimeter Center Parkway, a 10-story, 240,000-square-foot office building which generated a substantial fee and enhanced reputation for the firm.

A private real estate company focused primarily on the acquisition and management of high quality apartment communities located in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Southwest United States. 

Identified potential real estate investors and drove improvement in investor relations targeted for participation in funding the firm’s real estate offerings. Held authority for the successful and profitable operation of power retail centers in Atlanta. 

Enhanced the firm’s image and increased its credibility in Atlanta with investors while markedly increasing fund raising in the Atlanta market. Sourced and developed proposed hotel management partnership with West Paces Hotel Group (Capella Hotel Group) lead by Horst Schulze, the former vice chairman of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, president and COO of The Ritz-Carlton Group.
