Greg Vital

Greg Vital is a prominent American businessman and Republican politician serving as the State Representative for Tennessee's 29th District. He was born on January 27, 1956, and has been a resident of the Ooltewah-Georgetown area since the early 1970s. Vital holds a business degree from Southern Adventist University and has extensive experience in healthcare operations, having co-founded Morning Pointe Senior Living, which manages senior living and Alzheimer's care facilities across five states.123

Political Career

Vital was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives in a special election held on September 14, 2021, following the death of the previous representative, Mike Carter. In that election, he secured 3,884 votes against his Democratic opponent, DeAngelo Jelks, who received 964 votes.14 During his tenure, Vital has been involved in significant legislative actions, including supporting a controversial resolution in 2023 that led to the expulsion of three Democratic lawmakers from the legislature.1

Community Involvement and Recognition

In addition to his political role, Greg Vital has served on the Collegedale city commission and has been recognized for his contributions to the community and the Republican Party. He received the Hamilton County Republican Party's "Chairman’s Award" and was named "Statesman of the Year" for Tennessee’s Third District by the Tennessee Republican Party.2
