Graham Hembrow
Chairperson at State Chaplaincy Board
Graham Hembrow is the State Manager of Prison Fellowship Australia's Queensland branch.12 He has a background in theology, having graduated from Australian Catholic University with a Bachelor of Theology.1
In his role, Graham is deeply involved in prison ministry and chaplaincy work. He coordinates the Inside Out Prison Chaplaincy program, which has been supporting people in prisons for 50 years.8 This program aims to provide spiritual and emotional support to inmates, helping them combat the harshness of prison life.1
Graham's work involves visiting prisons and connecting with inmates. For example, he visited an inmate named John in prison five years ago, demonstrating his hands-on approach to prison ministry.4 He also works closely with correctional facilities, as evidenced by his collaboration with Serco, which operates the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre.7
Beyond his direct work with inmates, Graham is involved in broader initiatives related to prisoner rehabilitation and support. He has connections with former inmates who have successfully reintegrated into society, such as Jackie, who connected with Graham on Facebook after beginning college.6
Graham is recognized as a leader in Queensland prison chaplaincy, with his appointment as the coordinator of Inside Out Prison Chaplaincy being celebrated by Carinity, the organization overseeing the program.35 His work contributes to transforming prisoners' lives both inside and outside of correctional facilities.5
