Communications & Special Projects Associate at The African Leadership University

Grace Pettey, originally from Maryland, has been residing in Kigali, Rwanda, for the past three years, following a Fulbright grant in September 2018, with a strong commitment to bridge the gap between U.S.-Africa foreign policy.

With a background spanning various roles in the education sector, including AmeriCorps, Fulbright, and The African Leadership University (ALU), Grace has acquired experience in college access, language support programming, professional communication, and curriculum development.

She believes that education is pivotal to society and advocates for decolonizing education to align with each society's unique history, values, and aspirations, emphasizing the profound impact of education on communities.

In her pursuit to effect change and combat complacency, Grace draws inspiration from Marian Wright Edelman's quote: "If you don't like the way the world is, you change it. You have an obligation to change it. You just do it one step at a time."
