Grace Bonney: Author, Blogger, and Entrepreneur Behind Good Company Magazine
Grace Bonney is an American author, blogger, and entrepreneur best known for founding the popular interior design blog Design*Sponge.2 She is also the author of the New York Times bestseller "In The Company of Women"2, which features stories about women entrepreneurs who overcame adversity.
In 2018, Bonney launched the print magazine Good Company: Where Creativity Meets Business.12 The magazine was inspired by her book "In the Company of Women" and aims to provide "motivation, inspiration, practical advice, and a vital sense of connection and community for women and non-binary creatives at every stage of life."45
Bonney believes the design world lacks diversity, with its audience tending to be "wealthy, white, and in their 30s and 40s."3 She created Good Company to highlight marginalized communities of people running creative practices and businesses.1
Bonney identifies as queer and non-binary, using they/them pronouns.2 They were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 35.2 Bonney is married to chef Julia Turshen.2
Despite the challenges of launching a print magazine, Bonney believes print excels at hosting longer, more serious content compared to the web.13 Good Company ultimately ran for three issues.2
