Dr. Gopal Chopra MD, MBA, FRACS, is a distinguished neurosurgeon and entrepreneur with over two decades of expertise in strategic advisory, investment, clinical research, and operations within the healthcare industry. He has an extensive background in medical device, diagnostic, services, information technology, and pharmaceutical sectors. Dr. Chopra is the co-founder and managing partner of TCG, an executive accelerator specializing in cutting-edge smart and personalized medical and wellness technologies. Previously, he co-founded pingmd, Inc., a mobile healthcare solutions company, and served as Chairman, focusing on enhancing communication and telecare among patients and healthcare professionals.
Dr. Chopra has a robust history of working with both early-stage and large private and public healthcare companies across various markets. His prior roles include senior investment banker at Lazard Frères, where he concentrated on medical devices and diagnostics, and involvement in strategic transactions such as mergers & acquisitions, IPOs, PIPEs, and private financings. Additionally, he has played integral roles in business development at Boston Scientific Corporation and co-founding medical device companies like Hansen Medical.
As a practicing neurosurgeon, Dr. Chopra has experience in multiple countries including Australia, India, Canada, and the U.S. He has also held faculty positions at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, Duke University, and the University of Melbourne. At Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, he was an Associate Professor focusing on health sector management. Dr. Chopra has garnered recognition for his work in Neuroscience, Neurosurgery, Robotics, and Neurocognition.
His academic achievements include a medical degree from the University of Melbourne, a degree in neurosurgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Sector Management from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
