Gligor Tashkovich
Minister for Foreign Investment (Ret.) of the Republic of (now North) Macedonia
Gligor Tashkovich is a prominent figure known for his significant role as the Minister of Foreign Investment for the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. He was elected by the citizens to guide the country, overseeing a Ministry that focused on Foreign Investments and worked closely with all other Ministries. Under his leadership, Macedonia became the first country worldwide to have a fully ratified Stabilization and Association Agreement with the 28 member states of the European Union. This agreement allowed companies to establish manufacturing operations in Macedonia's special economic zones and export goods to the EU without incurring duties or taxes. Taking advantage of Macedonia's competitive advantages such as low wage rates and a flat 10% corporate and personal income tax, companies found unparalleled opportunities to expand into the EU economically. Tashkovich's expertise spans various domains, including oil and gas pipeline geopolitics in the Caspian and Black Sea regions, internet development in Europe and North America from 1984 to 1994, and international business development across over 15 industries.
