Gino Kerkhoffs

Dr. Gino Kerkhoffs is an accomplished orthopedic surgeon with over 15 years of surgical experience, specializing in the treatment of lower extremity injuries of high-performance athletes globally.

Dr. Kerkhoffs is renowned for his expertise in ankle injuries, including ankle cartilage problems, stress fractures, and muscle injuries of the lower extremity. He is privileged to provide orthopedic care to Dutch Olympic athletes as a preferred partner of NOC-NSF, as well as to local and international football clubs.

Aside from his clinical practice, Dr. Kerkhoffs has held leadership roles, serving as the chair of the regional orthopedic residency program since 2015. He has also chaired the Academic Center for Evidence-based Sports Medicine (ACES) since 2014 and co-chaired the IOC Research Center (ACHSS) since 2015.

Since October 2016, Dr. Kerkhoffs has been the chair of the Amsterdam Academic Orthopedic Department at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam. Following a successful merger in 2018, he now leads the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers of both the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Free University (VUmc).

Dr. Kerkhoffs has a diverse research background and has recently focused his research efforts on ankle cartilage and muscle injuries of the lower extremity.
