Gilbert Pooley

Gilbert Pooley is a seasoned strategy consultant and social entrepreneur with a passion for developing people, systems, and processes to transform organizations. He is the Founder of Umuzi, an African edtech social enterprise that addresses youth unemployment and inequality by improving young people's access to opportunities in the digital economy. With a specialty in applying Design Thinking and Agile practices, Gilbert has helped executives lead digital transformation and build tech talent pipelines in Africa. As a former Managing Director at Umuzi.org and a founding member of the African Coding Network, Gilbert has extensive experience in creating shared infrastructure to reduce costs, improve quality and scale tech education in Africa. He studied Economics at Trinity College, Dublin, and Business Science (Finance) at The University of Cape Town. Gilbert is a former Fellow of the African Leadership Initiative (Aspen Global Fellowship). He has also worked as a director at Bryanston Resources and contributed to the founding of Ke Ya Rona.
