Gil Elbaz

Gil Elbaz is a prominent entrepreneur and the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Datagen, a company specializing in generating synthetic data for applications in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), computer vision (CV), and artificial intelligence (AI). Datagen was founded in 2018 by Elbaz and Ofir Chakon, with the goal of streamlining the process of creating AI training data, significantly reducing the time required from days to just a few hours.2
Before founding Datagen, Elbaz co-founded Applied Semantics in 1998, which developed the technology behind Google AdSense. After its acquisition by Google in 2003, he served as the Engineering Director for Google's Los Angeles office. In 2007, he established Factual, a company aimed at democratizing access to quality data, which later merged with Foursquare in 2020. Elbaz is also a co-founder of TenOneTen Ventures, a venture capital firm, and has been involved in various non-profit initiatives, including founding the Common Crawl Foundation.12
Elbaz holds a bachelor's degree in Engineering and Applied Science and Economics from the California Institute of Technology and has further academic credentials from the Technion, where he focused on 3D computer vision.13
