Gianelle Alba

Gianelle Alba is a highly dedicated individual currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Africana Studies, and Gender and Women Studies at the University of Rhode Island.

Her academic journey includes enriching experiences such as studying Political Science and African Studies focusing on Social Change in the Caribbean during a Winter J-Term Study in Cuba Program.

Gianelle further expanded her global perspective through a Semester Abroad in Sociology, Political Science, Gender & Women Studies at the University of Hyderabad.

She has also delved into Africana Studies and Film during a summer study abroad program in Cabo Verde while maintaining a stellar academic record with a 4.0 GPA.

Prior to her current academic pursuits, she honed her skills in Arts and Leadership at Hope High School, showcasing a well-rounded educational background.

In her professional endeavors, Gianelle Alba has showcased versatility and a strong work ethic, holding the role of Sales and Event Designer at Edge Design Group in Atlanta.

Her passion for advocating for gender equality and empowerment is evident through her previous roles, including serving as a Gender and Women's Studies Tutor at the Talent Development Summer Program and as a Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services Specialist at the URI Women Center.

Gianelle has also contributed to her academic community as a Student Assistant and Peer Mentor at URI's Talent Development program, demonstrating her commitment to supporting and guiding her peers towards success.
