German Peña holds a PhD in Computer Science and Technology, along with an MS in Computer Science and Technology and a BS in Systems Engineering with a Specialization in Operations Research. He is recognized as an 'Ayudante Doctor' by the National Agency of Assessment, Quality, and Certification in Spain.

As a dedicated researcher, German Peña focuses on utilizing Systems Thinking and Simulation to enhance organizations' digitization and knowledge management processes. His expertise extends to areas like software process improvement, value-based software engineering, general software engineering, software process modeling and simulation, complex systems theory, system dynamics, cognitive science, knowledge management, and cybernetics.

He pursued his academic journey at prestigious institutions such as Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Universidad de los Andes. German Peña has served as an Assistant Professor at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria and held similar roles at other esteemed universities like Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Additionally, he has contributed as a Visitor Scholar in research capacities at Carnegie Mellon University.
