George Chen

George Chen is a professional with a diverse background in international media, academia, and public policy, currently serving as Managing Director, Public Policy at Meta (previously known as Facebook).
In his role, George acts as Meta's representative for Greater China, Mongolia, and Central Asia, engaging with individuals and governments on various policy matters such as online safety, data privacy, free expression, and the digital economy.
Before joining Meta/Facebook, George accumulated over 15 years of experience in the media sector, working with prestigious organizations like the South China Morning Post, Reuters, and Dow Jones.
George is a highly accomplished individual, having been a judge for journalism awards, a Yale World Fellow, and a participant in the US State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.
George holds a Master's degree with distinction in international and public affairs from the University of Hong Kong, where he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Administration.
Additionally, George is an author and editor of multiple books in English and Chinese languages, covering topics ranging from election integrity to global technological challenges.
He is actively involved in various organizations, including serving on the Board of Governors of The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and co-directing the Tech for Good Initiative at the HKU.
