Gavin Verhey

Senior Game and Product Designer at Wizards of the Coast

Gavin Verhey is a highly accomplished game designer, writer, and storyteller known for his contributions to Magic: the Gathering.

Having started playing the iconic Trading Card Game at a young age, Gavin quickly rose in the Magic community by securing writing positions at StarCityGames.com and being part of the original broadcasting team for StarCityGames's SCGLive Tournament Series.

In 2011, Gavin's dedication to game design led him to join Wizards of the Coast in Magic R&D, where he has since been actively involved in creating sets, leading project teams, and designing numerous Magic cards.

Apart from his design work, Gavin collaborates with various departments like Events and Brand to innovate unique experiences for conventions and Organized Play to enhance Magic's presence as an e-sport. He also contributes weekly articles to Dailymtg.com, the official website of Magic: the Gathering.

Gavin Verhey holds a BA in English from the University of Washington and an AA from Cascadia Community College. He currently serves as a Senior Game and Product Designer at Wizards of the Coast.
