    Gavin Silber is a highly educated professional with a Master's degree in Urban Studies/Affairs from New York University, an Honours degree in Political Economy from the University of Stellenbosch, and a Bachelor's degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Cape Town.

    With a rich history of involvement in various organizations, Gavin's experience includes being the Co-Director of the Bertha Challenge Fellowship Program at The Bertha Foundation, where he holds a significant role in shaping and guiding the program. Prior to this, he served as an Activist Education Consultant at Equal Cities and as a Senior Fellow at the Tshisimani Centre For Activist Education, demonstrating his commitment to education and activism.

    Before his current roles, Gavin Silber had diverse experiences such as engaging in Urban Research & Popular Education at Ndifuna Ukwazi, providing consulting services at the Open Society Foundations, serving on the Board of Ndifuna Ukwazi, contributing as a member of the Advisory Committee on Sanitation and Urban Development at the South African Human Rights Commission, and directing efforts at the Social Justice Coalition.

    Gavin's professional journey also includes significant positions such as being the Head of Research at the Centre for Law and Social Justice (now Ndifuna Ukwazi), Chief Researcher to the General-Secretary at the Treatment Action Campaign, and a Researcher at the House of Commons, showcasing his wide array of skills and expertise in research, activism, and education.

    His Sabbatical Visits to Urban Movements in South America and varied involvements highlight Gavin Silber's global perspective and commitment to social justice and urban development.
