Senior Software Engineering Manager

Mission: Build a centralized Interview Scheduling Platform that can be embedded across all Indeed products
Scope: Led a team of 15 Software Engineers, 3 Engineering Managers, 2 Product Managers, 1 Designer, 1 UX Researcher, & 3 Test Engineers split across 4 pods (2 API pods, 1 Component Library/App pod, 1 Growth pod) across 4 US timezones

Responsibilities:
- Form & lead remote product engineering teams across time zones & cities
- Manage engineers with a broad range of experience - from intern to Staff level
- Develop, innovate, & drive team processes, optimizing the development lifecycle & delivery times
- Lead planning, triaging/prioritizing, and project breakdown
- Manage long term career growth of direct reports & write, present, & defend promotion cases
- Manage performance and coach underperformers
- Partner with Product to develop roadmaps and OKRs
- Partner with Talent Attraction to recruit & hire talent
- Partner with SRE to manage SLOs, architect production infrastructure, and ensure operational excellence

- Ensure data is properly captured & used to inform decision making
- Regularly meet with stakeholders & organizational/executive leadership to provide updates/get feedback

Built beautiful and easy‐to‐use websites to guide users through applying for a business loan.

Worked with the Sales and Underwriting teams to optimize the internal web application that manages the entire life cycle of a borrower, from lead to loan disbursement.

Integrated with QuickBooks and Plaid to instantaneously retrieve financial information to generate balance sheets and cash flow statements, reducing the time Underwriting spends on borrowers from months to hours.

Introduced a code review process to catch potential errors before merging.

Technical teams & responsibilities:
Built intuitive, secure, and scalable client-facing web applications that enable universities, from instructors to administrators, to make decisions affecting entire groups of students based on predictive analytics.

Developed a canonical model to accommodate disparate data sources from a multitude of partner institutions, enabling the easy creation of features for the data science team to work with and build predictive models and for the product team to display useful data to our clients.

Worked on the internal ETL tool that coordinates the movement of data from our institutional partners into the Civitas ecosystem, and is used by every engineering team to handle and transform said data.

Designed, built, and scaled a service oriented architecture (SOA). Worked on a State Service that provides a centralized mechanism for keeping track of the state of the ETL workflow. Designed and implemented the packaging and continuous integration system. Split the monolithic ETL tool out into services.
