Gary Wilkerson

Gary Wilkerson is a distinguished tenured professor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, with a specialization in the Graduate Athletic Training Education Program since 1999.

Throughout his career, Gary has gained recognition for his exceptional contributions to the field of Athletic Training, with prestigious honors such as being inducted into the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Hall of Fame in 2016 and receiving the NATA Foundation Medal for Distinguished Research in 2019.

His academic journey includes earning a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Athletic Training from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Science (MS) in Athletic Training from the University of Arizona, and a B.S. in Athletic Training from Eastern Kentucky University.

As an expert in the field, Gary Wilkerson's research focuses on innovative methods for clinically identifying subtle perceptual-motor performance deficiencies that can increase the risk of concussion and musculoskeletal injuries.

Apart from his role at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Gary has previously held key positions such as being the Co-Founder of BioKinetics Therapy & Training, the Director of Sports Medicine Research & Outreach at Trover Clinic, and the Head Athletic Trainer at Centre College.
